Spring Term 2025/26

Mr Whiffing, Mrs Quinn & Miss Warren

Welcome to Class Six!

We hope you all had a wonderful half term and had time to rest and relax. We have lots of different activities to complete and I am sure we will all have an amazing time.

Our theme for this spring term is:

"Evolution and Inheritance: Have we always looked like this?"

In school we will be looking at a wonderful text called 'Island:The Story of the Galapagos' written by Jason Chin during our English sessions. We will combine this by focusing on evolution and inheritance within our science lessons with a particular emphasis on discussion and debate which really allows the children to reflect on their thoughts and ideas. In our geography lessons, we will dive in to the topic of mountains and their importance to both physical and human geography. This is a brilliant half term and will really allow your child to think and debate in many areas.

During our R.E. lessons, we will be focused on our topic 'Unity' - For Christians, communion has a significant meaning.  To receive communion means being in union with Jesus Christ and with one another.  It means breaking and sharing the consecrated Bread which Catholics believe is the Body of Christ. To celebrate Eucharist means community.  It challenges believers to ask, ‘Can I share this Eucharist if I do nothing to help my brother or sister who is hungry?’ ‘Can I partake of this communion if I refuse to forgive a wrong?"

Scripture: Romans 12:4-5 For as in one body we have many members, and not all members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.

We will then move swiftly on to the topic of 'Death and New Life' - For Christians, it is through the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus that new life begins.  He reveals the way to eternal life for us and so a new life begins here and now, a life which will culminate in future glory.  The Lenten journey is one which takes us to the glory of Easter Sunday, from death to new life.

Scripture: John 12:24 Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies it bears much fruit

Important dates for this half term are:

Morning Booster Groups - Every Wednesday

World Book Day - 05.03.26

I am sure we will have a wonderful term and always remember, if you have any questions or queries, our door is always open.

Many thanks for your support. Continue to stay safe and smile!

Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.

P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.
