Summer Term 2025/26

Mr Whiffing, Mrs Quinn & Miss Warren

Welcome to Class Six!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and had time to rest and relax. We hope you enjoyed time with family and friends and that you found a little bit of time to have some chocolate. We have lots of different activities to complete and I am sure we will all have an amazing time.

Our theme for this summer term is:

"Can we change the World? Hopes and Dreams"

In school we will be continuing to look at the wonderful text called 'Island:The Story of the Galapagos' written by Jason Chin for a few weeks during our English sessions. We will combine this by focusing on evolution and inheritance within our science lessons with a particular emphasis on discussion and debate which really allows the children to reflect on their thoughts and ideas. In our geography lessons, we will dive in to the topic of mountains and their importance to both physical and human geography. This is a brilliant half term and will really allow your child to think and debate in many areas.

During our R.E. lessons, we will be focused on our topic 'Witnesses' - Christians believe that the spirit of God is active in each person and in a special way in the community of believers which is the Church.  The Feast of Pentecost is the celebration both of the gift of God’s Holy Spirit and the trust God places in people to be witnesses in the world.

Scripture: Acts 2:14, 32-33 Peter standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them: ‘Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem let this be known to you, and listen to what I say.  This Jesus God raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses.  Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you both see and hear.

Important dates for this half term are:

Morning Booster Groups - Every Wednesday

SATs Week - Week beginning 11th May

I am sure we will have a wonderful term and always remember, if you have any questions or queries, our door is always open.

Many thanks for your support. Continue to stay safe and smile!

Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.

P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.

Homework in Class Six will take place throughout the week. Children are also expected to read and we suggest at least 10 minutes a day if at all possible.
