Spring Term 2025/26

Mr Whiffing, Mrs Quinn & Miss Warren

Welcome to Class Six!

We hope you all had a wonderful festive period and we wish you all the very best for 2026. We have lots of different activities to complete and I am sure we will all have an amazing time.

Our theme for this spring term is:

"Evolution and Inheritance: Have we always looked like this?"

In school we will be looking at a wonderful text called 'Selfish Giant' written by Oscar Wilde during our English sessions. We will be focusing on animals including humans within our science lessons with a particular emphasis on the cardiovascular system. In our history lessons, we will dive in to the history of England through the story of York over the years. King George VI once said, "The history of York is the history of England." but why and what did he mean? This is a brilliant half term and will really allow your child to think and debate in many areas.

During our R.E. lessons, we will be focused on our topic 'Sources' - The Bible is the story, spread over more than two thousand years, of God’s love and how God’s people responded to that love. There are all sorts of people – good, bad and indifferent – just as in the world today. God showed his love for them by wonderful deeds and each responded in a special way. There are all kinds of writings and the authors all wanted to tell us one thing: the truth about God. All of them were inspired by the Holy Spirit when they were writing. This is why the church family believes that the Holy Spirit is also the author of the Bible.

Important dates for this half term are:

Safer Internet Day - 10.02.26

Valentine's Disco - 13.02.26

I am sure we will have a wonderful term and always remember, if you have any questions or queries, our door is always open.

Many thanks for your support. Continue to stay safe and smile!

Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.

P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.

Homework in Class Six will take place throughout the week. Children are also expected to read and we suggest at least 10 minutes a day if at all possible.
