Summer Term 2024/25
Mr Whiffing, Mrs Quinn, Ms Warren & Ms Bradshaw
Welcome to Class Six!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Class Six! We hope you all had a lovely Easter period with your family and enjoyed every second of your time together!
Our theme for this summer term is:
"Can We Change the World?: Hopes and dreams."
In school we will be looking at a wonderful text called 'Island' by Jason Chin during our English sessions. We will be focusing on Evolution and Inheritance in our science lessons as well as learning about the life and work of Charles Darwin. In our history lessons, we will be looking at an Ancient Civilisation from the world, Ancient China. This is a brilliant half term and will really allow your child to think and debate in many areas while asking thought provoking questions.
Alongside all the above, we will continue our preparation for SATs and then look further into our Castlerigg trip before transition to high school.
Important Dates:
Monday 12th May - SATs Week
Monday 16th June - Castlerigg
Thursday 26th June - High School Transition Day
I am sure we will have an awesome term and always remember, if you have any questions or queries, our door is always open.
Many thanks for your support. Continue to stay safe and smile!
Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.
P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Wednesday and a Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.
Homework in Class Six will take place throughout the week. Children are also expected to read and we suggest at least 10 minutes a day if at all possible.

We highly encourage all children to bring in a water bottle to school every day. Castlerigg cookies are available every Wednesday morning break time for 40 pence. Toast will also be sold on a Friday morning for 20 pence. If your child would like to purchase any of these items they should bring in the required money on each day and keep it safely in their tray.
We look forward to an amazing year in Class Six! If you have any questions, concerns or require any further information please ask, our door is always open.
