Welcome to home learning!

We are missing you in school and hope you are all safe, well and happy.

This week will see the start of our new home learning. This will include the usual weekly plans, found below, and also a small group zoom session for those children that remain at home. You will already have received an invitation to your session. These sessions will be a quick catch up between me and the children and a chance to discuss how home learning is going. We will also have a chat about Zoom etiquette.

We will have a whole class zoom session on Friday

As you are aware, additional resources have been put together ready to be collected on Monday. However, please note that the curriculum will be met within the weekly plans, the additional resources are extras that may be used if required. If your child is in on Monday, they will bring their pack home with them to save you the extra journey.

Children should all have their log in details for Mymaths, Active Learn, Purple Mash and IDL. All online learning platforms offer great learning activities which the children have enjoyed in school.

Reading books have been allocated on the Active Learn website. Children should log in and choose a book to read. Some books are quite long and may need to be read over a number of days. Comprehension questions should be answered by clicking on the green bug face that appears throughout the book.

Our history topic is all about York and why it is so important to British History. In science, we will be investigating the Classification of Living Things.

The next RE topic and homelearning pack are available to download from the link on the home learning plan.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to share any work completed at home please email the class

Many thanks for your support. Stay safe and happy!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to Class Six, we hope you had a wonderful festive period! We hope you had time to rest and relax allowing you to be fully charged as we head into the spring term.

Our History topic concerns the city of York. The topic will focus on the important historical concept of palimpsest – a term used in archaeology and history to describe the occurrence of a sequence of features from different periods that are superimposed on each other. All settlements in England illustrate this, but palimpsest is most apparent in large towns and cities. York has an incredibly important part to play in British history and this investigation consists of five ancillary questions that span a timeline of 1,600 years.

Our Science topic focuses on the Classification of Living Things. In this unit children will learn how to classify living things using the major classification kingdoms defined by Carl Linnaeus. They will identify and describe the observable characteristics of a range of classification groups including micro-organisms, plants and animals.

Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.

P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Monday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.

Homework in Class Six will take place throughout the week.

Castlerigg cookies are available every Wednesday morning break time for 35 pence. If your child would like to purchase any of these items they should bring in the required money on each day and keep it safely in their tray.
